Do you accept spec commercials for a real brand?
Yes, that's what a spec commercial is. Just make sure you personally qualify and when you directed the spec work qualifies.. Read the rules before entering. And, please mark the appropriate category on entry form. It does not have any bearing on the selection process but important for the record.
I’m going to be submitting a spec commercial and wanted to know if I may put it on YouTube & Vimeo before submitting it. Just want to make sure I’m not going to disqualify my work by doing so.
Having your work on YouTube, Vimeo, or elsewhere does not affect your NDS entry.
I have uploaded the 3 videos I want to submit for the NDS Search. However, I paid for 4, is there anyway to get a refund for the last video because I am only submitting 3?
Yes. Send an email with your request to events@shootonline.com. Include Username, Director Name, Name of Credit Card, and Date of purchase. Credit will go back to the original credit card used only.
By uploading multiple videos are they considered as a whole in regards to your body of work or do each of those videos have a chance to be selected?
Each piece of work has a chance to be selected as the one piece of work for the NDS Showcase.

Your rules say, in terms of eligibility, that it must been completed during the latest fifteen month period of January -March. My question is, what does “completed” mean? Does it mean finished or released into the world?

One of the spots I’m submitting is completed but does not start airing until the end of April. Would the spot be circulated to anyone besides the judges during the judging period?
